MURALS Symposium announces winners for student scholarly and creative work

Nearly 200 undergraduates from across CSU’s eight colleges participated in the Multicultural Undergraduate Research Art and Leadership Symposium (MURALS) on March 29 at the Lory Student Center.

A record number of 168 students participated in this year’s Multicultural Undergraduate Research Art and Leadership Symposium (MURALS) at Colorado State University, including sixteen from the College of Health and Human Sciences.

CSU student helps secure new state law on water quality in mobile home parks

A Colorado State University student has played a key role in securing new regulations to protect water quality in mobile home parks – after learning that elevated levels of lead were found in the water at the mobile home park where the student lives.

The Big Picture

Student Demographics

MURALS intentionally recruits and engages with minoritized students. From 2015-2021, 83% were racially minoritized, 48% of student were Pell grant recipients, 46% were first generation students, and 32% were first generation and Pell recipients1 . Students in the MURALS program are more racially, ethnically, and economically diverse than the at large student body (70% White, 14% Hispanic or Latino, 4% two or more races, 3% Asian, 2% Black or African American, 0.5% American Indian or Alaska Native, and 0.1% Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islanders).

Total Participation

Each year, MURALS expands its reach. From 17 students in 2015 to 90 in 2022, MURALS continues to grow and meaningfully engage with students. The highest number of students to date was in 2019 at 118 students. Due to COVID-19, MURALS was cancelled in 2020 and held virtually in 2021.
